Tonight, March 13, 2015, The New York Pops continues its 31st season with two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster in her solo debut atCarnegie Hall.
Among other musical standards, Foster will reprise her unforgettable performances of “Anything Goes” and “I Get a Kick Out of You” from her Tony Award-winning turn as Reno Sweeney in the Cole Porter classic. She will also offer her own take on “Down with Love,” made famous by Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand. Foster will be joined by special guest artists Joshua Henry and Megan McGinnis, who will sing the showstopper “Let It Sing” from Violet, and the touching “Neverland” from Peter Pan.
“I am so thrilled to work with an actress who truly defines the meaning of triple threat – not only is Sutton an incredible singer; she’s also an incredible actress, and one heck of a dancer,” said Music Director Steven Reineke. “She is so exciting to watch and listen to, and I know that she and the great New York Pops will blow us all away.”

Sutton Foster is an award-winning actor, singer and dancer who has performed in 11 Broadway shows – most recently the revival of Violet – and originated roles in the Broadway productions of The Drowsy Chaperone, Little Women, Young Frankenstein, Shrek The Musical, and her Tony Award-winning performances in Anything Goes and Thoroughly Modern Millie. She was first seen on television on “Star Search” at age 15, and has more recently starred in Amy Sherman-Palladino‘s “Bunheads” and appeared in “Johnny and the Sprites,” “Flight of the Conchords,” “Sesame Street,” “Law and Order: SVU,” and “Royal Pains.” As a solo artist, Sutton has performed all over the country as well as internationally with her musical director Michael Rafter, featuring songs from her debut solo CD, Wish, as well as her follow up CD, An Evening with Sutton Foster: Live at the Café Carlyle. She has graced the stages of Carnegie Hall, Feinstein’s, Lincoln Center’s American Songbook series, Joe’s Pub and many others. In 2011 she received an Honorary Doctorate degree from Ball State University where she also is on faculty as a teacher and advisor to the Department of Theatre and Dance.
Joshua Henry is excited to be returning to perform with the New York Pops. Last season marked his second Tony nomination for the role of ‘Flick’ in Roundabout Theatre Company’s Violet. A University of Miami (FL) graduate, his first nomination was for his performance of Haywood Patterson in The Scottsboro Boys. His other Broadway shows include the Tony Award-winning revival of The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, Grammy Award-winning American Idiot, Grammy and Tony Award-winning In the Heights, and Bring It On: The Musical. Regional credits include Godspell, The Wiz, The Cotton Club Parade, and Being Alive. TV and film credits include Army Wives, Kings, and Sex and the City: The Movie.
Megan McGinnis most recently created the role of Jerusha Abbott in the John Caird/Paul Gordon musical Daddy Long Legs in London and around the United States, garnering a Los Angeles Ovation Award, a Boston IRNE Award, an Elliot Norton Award, as well as a Chicago Jeff Award nomination. Megan was last seen on Broadway as Eponine in the revival of LES MISERABLES. She also originated the role of Beth March in Little Women, and played a year-long run as Belle in Beauty and the Beast. Other Broadway credits include Thoroughly Modern Millie, Parade, and The Diary of Anne Frank. National tours include Fiddler on the Roof (Hodel), The Sound of Music with Richard Chamberlain (Liesl) and James Joyce‘s The Dead (Lily). Megan’s television and film credits include Dear John; Sister, Sister; Wings; Blossom (recurring); Anywhere But Here; and A Goofy Movie. She can be heard on the original cast recordings of Daddy Long Legs, Little Women, Parade, and-most recently-on Sutton Foster‘s album Wish, singing the duet “Flight.” She holds a BA in English from Columbia University.
